Midsummer Arts Faire June 24-26, 2005
Friday: 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. / Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. / Sunday: 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Quincy Artists Guild is proud to present the 2nd Annual National Invitational Midsummer Arts Faire! The centerpiece of the faire is a juried arts exhibition and sale which featured 39 artists from seven states in its first year. The innaugural event was hailed a success by artists and audience alike, and plans are well underway to build and expand the faire on a solid reputation for excellence.
Other activities, from garden tours, to a Mediterannean Dinner on the Lawn of the Villa Kathrine, and a full schedule of performances, food booths, and hands-on children's activities in Washington Park, round out a great weekend of entertainment. Visit Quincy and enjoy our hotels, bed and breakfast inns, restaurants, shops, museums, riverfront and historic districts, and experience the sites, sounds, taste and feel of the Midsummer Arts Faire!
The three-day event kicks-off with Quincy's popular "Blues in the District" series on Friday evening. Bring lawn chairs and a favorite beverage and enjoy the laid back blues of Burton Gaar from Louisiana. Now in its 7th year, "Blues in the District" attracts more than 1,200 people to Washington Park every other Friday evening throughout the summer.
On Saturday and Sunday the Midsummer Arts Faire will feature an expanded array of food, entertainment, demonstrations and hands-on activities for children and adults. Watch this site for a full schedule of events!
Venue
The central hub of the faire is beautiful Washington Park, site of a famous Lincoln-Douglas debate in 1858. Located in the Historic Quincy Business District, Washington Park is comfortable and welcoming, offering abundant shade, a central fountain, and park benches galore! The park is surrounded by architecturally significant buildings that house an array of shops and restaurants. Parking and access are easy. Come and enjoy!
